Level II Paraprofessional for PreSchool Lab located at Torrington High School.Job Summary and Functions:
Under the direction of a certified PK teacher, assists with the education and behavioral development of school-aged children and the social, physical and intellectual growth of pre-school children. May assume responsibility for class or program activity in the temporary absence of the teacher.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree and/or 60 college credits or successful passing of the Para-Pro Exam.
- Previous experience working in a school setting or with groups of children preferred.
- Warm and supportive personality with the ability to relate to children in a pre-K setting
- Ability to maintain the rules of confidentiality and the rights of all children.
Terms of Employment: 10-month schedule, 184 work days, 35 hours per week. Starting pay in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement is $18.41 per hour, with comprehensive medical benefit package and tuition reimbursement.
Internal Applicants: Regular employees of the Torrington Public Schools who are current members of the Paraprofessionals' union. Per Article IV Section 4.8 of the collective bargaining agreement, "Positions that become vacant after the anticipated vacancy posting, and before the first day of school for students, shall be announced via District email and posted for five (5) days before being filled. Paraprofessionals shall not be eligible to apply for lateral positions that become vacant after August 15th.
