Active Directory / IAM Engineer

  • The Active Directory/ IAM Engineer is a senior information technology professional within the Datacenter Transformation Center of Excellence (COE) who analyzes existing x86/x64 architectures and workloads and designs new or complementary solutions for transformed environments, implements solutions, and troubleshoots any residual issues after transformation. As part of the Transformation COE the Senior Windows engineer will participate in early project discovery to understand the current mode of operation (CMO). The Engineer will then participate in the evaluation of the existing AD domain structure and create a Future Mode of Operation (FMO) Design that aligns with the company’s service catalog. The Active Directory Engineer will concentrate on high-level server related duties such as system architecture, network design and dependencies, lead troubleshooting activities for outages and/or performance issues during transformation projects. The Active Directory Engineer may lead additional resources in the implementation of the prescribed design. The Senior Windows Engineer will review, analyze, and document existing requirements and dependencies and select the best manner of transformation in the FMO environment. The Engineer will identify and document requirements, define scope and objectives, and identify system modifications needed to support business requirements and initiatives in the transformed environment. Manage and maintain an organization's identity and access management (IAM) system using Okta, focusing on user provisioning, authentication policies, single sign-on (SSO)/multi-factor authentication (MFA) implementation, application integrations, and overall security compliance. The Senior Windows Engineer will migrate Windows workloads from the CMO to FMO environments using specific tools and industry best practices. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers on data center transformation activities to confirm (and document accordingly) Windows Systems and workloads, develop Functional Specifications for Active Directory Implementation. 
  • Independently manage all aspects related to Integration projects.
  • Configuring Okta settings, troubleshooting access issues, ensuring system security, and optimizing user experiences for secure and seamless access to applications and resources. 
  • Serve as liaison between the customer, Transition Team and the Datacenter Tower to communicate difficult concepts and processes. Work with vendors and contractors to define detailed technical requirements
  • Participate in  Application owner and Business User interviews to identify system functions and architectural and network related dependencies
  • Execute Discovery activities to fully identify and document the existing Windows server inventory
  • Work with the Datacenter Server Tower to develop and implement the appropriate solution for successful transformation
  • Consult on complex business issues and design considerations
  • Responsible for the identification and documentation of system requirements to enable the Technical Team to deliver the appropriate solution for successful transformation
  • Participate in  the development and execution of the user acceptance test plans, as well as schedule testing
  • Create new documentation and processes as needed to help refine, optimize, and/or to establish network functions and processes

 Requirements

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in an Information Technology Discipline and 6 or more years professional experience
  • 8+ years of Senior Windows Administration
  • 5+ Years of Active Directory Administration
  • 5+ Years of Okta Experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of networking, infrastructure and client side architectures, software lifecycle, and system design
  • Expert knowledge in Active Directory, DNS, OU design and management, AD Site design, Group Policy, AD security, AD certificate services, LDAP, Kerberos, Global Catalog, WINS, DHCP, Client, FRS, AD troubleshooting, and AD recovery
  • Comprehensive experience with Active Directory architecture design, implementation, maintenance and support for a large scale environment
  • Must be have experience with PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of SCOM monitoring is a plus
  • Working knowledge of AD migration tools such as Quest Migration Manager (QMM), Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT), etc
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Identity Manager’s suite of products (ie, OIM, OVD)
  • Working knowledge of AD management tools such as Change Auditor for AD, Active Roles Server, GPOAdmin, etc
  • Working knowledge of Centrify Direct Control in order to integrate UNIX, MAC, and ESX hosts into AD
  • Strong understanding of tools such as Windows Support Tools, Windows Resource Kit tools, Sysinternals, LDAP utilities, GPMC, , etc
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Systems Center suite: SCCM and SCOM
  • Experience with Powershell, VBScripting, C# programming is desired
  • Extensive Systems Engineering experience within e-commerce or financial services industry
  • Hands on experience with Active Directory design, implementation, migration, administration, troubleshooting and recovery
