Compass is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to join an onsite team leading complex, cross-functional technical engagements for high-profile customers. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor and strategic thought partner, driving clarity in requirements, managing design deviations, and championing solutions that balance customer needs with business scalability.
As a senior member of the Solution Engineering team, you will also play a key role in mentoring peers, elevating best practices, and influencing the evolution of our standard design platforms through real-world insight and customer feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Technical Leadership:
Assist on early-stage technical strategy for major customer pursuits and serve as the senior l solution architect on strategic deals, owning the end-to-end technical engagement and ensuring solutions align with both customer needs and internal platform strategy
• Executive Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate directly with customer executives and technical leaders to deeply understand operational drivers, business outcomes, and long-term roadmaps.
• Governance & Design Authority:
Establish and enforce design governance for deviations from the standard platform, ensuring consistent documentation, approval workflows, and downstream communication.
• Complex Solution Design:
Evaluate and architect tailored solutions that balance customization with standardization, navigating trade-offs between customer requirements, operational efficiency, and delivery timelines.
• Cross-Functional Enablement:
Drive alignment across engineering, delivery, operations, finance, and legal functions to ensure readiness for implementation and operational sustainability.
• Risk & Impact Analysis:
Identify high-risk technical variables and business implications early in the engagement cycle, providing leadership with scenario planning, mitigation strategies, and decision frameworks.
• Strategic Insight: Balance customer advocacy with company scalability, ensuring all solutions support our long-term strategic anchors and operational capabilities.
• Knowledge Stewardship: Deliver clear, consistent documentation and updates to stakeholders throughout the opportunity lifecycle, including comprehensive post-lease handover materials.
• Platform Feedback & Continuous Improvement:
Serve as a key feedback loop into product management and engineering, influencing the evolution of our design platform and engineering standards based on field learnings.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
Mentor solution engineers and contribute to the development of best practices, technical playbooks, and internal training resources.
• Lessons Learned Integration: Drive continuous improvement by capturing post-engagement insights and proactively updating guidelines, templates, and best practices across the program.
What You Need to Succeed:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in solution engineering, design management, technical consulting, or a related field, preferably with large-scale infrastructure, data centers, or mission-critical environments.
• Deep knowledge of integrated engineering domains including mechanical, electrical, architectural, IT/Telecom systems. and the ability to synthesize complex technical information.
• Strong executive communication and presentation skills, including the ability to influence decision-decision making at senior levels.
• A proactive mindset with a focus toward early engagement, structured planning, and continual learning.
• Ability to lead without authority, holding cross-functional teams accountable to deliverables and timelines.
• Demonstrated experience with solution governance, enterprise architecture frameworks, and technical risk management.
• Experience translating customer requirements into scalable technical architectures and operational plans.
