Concordance’s reentry program is designed to dramatically reduce recidivism by helping individuals with justice involvement lead meaningful, abundant, and joyful lives. Our holistic, evidence-based model offers a wide range of services - therapy, case management, yoga, behavioral health and substance use recovery groups, spiritual care, life skills, medical care, education, and job readiness. Each participant is formally supported by our Care Team for a full year, ensuring stability and long-term success. Now operating in Missouri, South Carolina, and Virginia, Concordance is a national leader in compassionate, innovative reentry care.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 
The Pre-Release Career Coach plays a critical role in the success of our participants. Career Coaches works directly with participants to facilitate education, prepare participants for long-term career success and provide support in success in the Concordance program. The Pre-Release Career Coach provides classroom-based education, one-on-one coaching while the participant is still incarcerated. Pre-Release Career Coaches travel locally on-site to the institutions to deliver in-person services. 

Key Responsibilities - your role will involve:

Facilitating excellent participant programming:
  • Conducting impactful group sessions, maintaining frequent and supportive participant communication
  • Consistently delivering high-quality education and employment curriculum to participants
  • Upholding the quality and fidelity of Concordance Reentry Model curriculum when delivering group sessions
  • Preparing for sessions with participants by reviewing curriculum and participant case notes
  • Preparing ad-hoc curriculum to support the career goals and development of participants
  • As needed, holding 1:1 sessions with participants and helping participants develop a career plan
  • Building a bond of trust with participants to ensure smooth transition to post-release services
  • Leveraging career readiness tools and resources and to support the participant

Collaborative team engagement
  • Documenting participant interactions, progress, and challenges in electronic record system
  • Collaborating closely with participants’ care team, including Case Managers and Therapists, to ensure coordination of services and holistic care delivery
  • Attending team meetings and trainings

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work within correctional facilities 
  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Skill in documenting interactions in case notes and flagging participant needs 
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and compassion in all interactions 
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:
  • CPR / Adult First Aid certification preferred 
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Professional Career Coach, Counselor and/or Offenders Workforce Development Specialist
  •  Ability to pass DOC security clearance 
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • CPR / Adult First Aid certification preferred

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • 3-5 years of experience of adult instruction experience, counseling, coaching and/or experience directly supporting a formerly incarcerated population
  • Significant local travel required

  • Sit, stand, and walk for a considerable amount of time throughout the day
  • Occasionally, help set up for Center events or move classroom around including but not limited to carrying and setting up tables and chairs.
