Purpose of Position:
We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our growing team.
This full-time position will be responsible for overseeing the procurement strategy and purchasing operations across two manufacturing facilities in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will lead vendor negotiations, sourcing strategy, inventory planning, and cost reduction initiatives in alignment with company goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, purchasing strategy, and order placement
- Review and refine procurement processes to drive efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance
- Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage long-term supplier relationships
- Monitor raw material and component inventory levels to ensure production needs are met without excess inventory
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Engineering, and Logistics to align material availability with production schedules
- Develop and maintain approved vendor lists and performance scorecards
- Ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards across all purchases
- Generate reports on purchasing metrics (cost trends, lead times, vendor performance) and present to senior management
- Stay current on market trends and pricing for key commodities and materials
- Lead and mentor a team of buyers or procurement specialists as needed
- Oversee purchasing responsibilities for assigned commodities across the organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or related field
- 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ERP systems (Infor experience preferred), and purchasing software
- Experience negotiating large or complex supply contracts and managing supplier relationships
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory control, and cost analysis
- Knowledge of raw materials, supplier qualification, and commodity market dynamics
- Ability to work effectively in ERP/MRP systems
- High proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, proactive communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented leader with a hands-on, solution-driven approach
