Position Summary
The Manager, Events Business Development, will support the Senior Director of Business Development in driving revenue growth across ACP’s portfolio of 8+ live events, educational offerings, and member services. This role is an ideal opportunity for a motivated early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in business development, partnerships, and strategic initiatives within a mission-driven association.
The Manager will assist with account management, partner engagement, research, lead generation, sales tracking, and coordination of business development projects. The individual in this role must be detail-oriented, proactive, and excited to learn and contribute to the growth and success of ACP’s events and membership programs.
This position will play an active role in supporting the team’s achievement of annual sales goals and individual quotas through consistent outreach, relationship-building, and follow-through on business opportunities.

Partnership Development & Revenue Generation
- Lead business development initiatives to grow sponsorship and partnership revenue across ACP’s live and virtual events for an assigned portfolio.
- In partnership with the Senior Director, develop and execute lead generation strategies; identify new prospects and market segments aligned with ACP’s mission and offerings.
- Build customized outreach and proposal strategies to secure new and repeat business.
- Maintain and expand a pipeline of qualified leads and prospects in CRM tools.
Account Management & Client Success
- Manage a portfolio of assigned partner accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for sponsor communication, deliverables, and relationship development.
- Ensure successful fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and contractual deliverables in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Track partner satisfaction and renewal potential through proactive engagement and reporting.
Sales Enablement & Reporting
- Oversee the development of proposals, pitch decks, and sales materials in collaboration with Marketing and Events teams.
- Track sales performance, monitor revenue against targets, and prepare reports and insights for senior leadership.
- Ensure CRM platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Nimble) are accurately maintained with up-to-date lead, account, and revenue data.
Event Integration & Execution
- Coordinate all sponsor-related activities before, during, and after assigned events, including communications, deliverables tracking, onsite engagement, and post-event reporting.
- Serve as a liaison between sponsors and event operations teams to ensure seamless integration of sponsorships into the attendee experience.
- Represent ACP at select events and industry meetings as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with teams across Events, Marketing, Membership, and Communications to ensure alignment of sponsorship offerings with organizational goals and messaging.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of partnership strategies, processes, and deliverables based on department goals and personal development and feedback.
Administrative & Operational Leadership
- Manage timelines, workflows, and budgets related to assigned business development initiatives and partnerships.
- Draft meeting agendas, document action items, and ensure timely follow-up and execution.
- Contribute to departmental planning and budgeting activities.
Education, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience (sales, account management, or association experience).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to travel, estimated 2–3 times per year, to support onsite events or meetings.
Job Conditions
We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
