The Regulatory Compliance Program Auditor is responsible for ensuring that all Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) programs operated by The Harris Center comply with applicable federal, state, local and Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) guidelines, policies, and procedures. This role involves conducting regular audits, reviewing documentation, following up on citations and tags, assisting in the development of applicable plans of correction, and ensuring timely resolution of facility and maintenance issues. The auditor will collaborate with program staff, facility staff, leadership, and other stakeholders as needed, to promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement. Staff travel required. Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends may be required.
Your role in action:
- Conduct regular audits of ICF and ISS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and HHSC regulations and internal policies.
- Review and analyze documentation, including care plans, incident reports, and staff training records.
- Monitor adherence to state regulatory requirements for ICF and ISS programs.
- Track and follow up on all citations, tags, and deficiencies identified during internal or external inspections.
- Collaborate with Program Director to develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Ensure timely resolution and documentation of all compliance issues to include chart audits and coordination with TxHmL Coordinator.
- Identify and report facility and maintenance issues that may impact compliance or safety.
- Coordinate with facilities management to ensure timely repairs and improvements from start to finish.
- Maintain records of facility inspections and maintenance follow-ups.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to the Program Director and other stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing and facilitating HHSC surveys and inspections.
- Provide guidance and training to program staff on compliance standards and best practices with applicable regulations and policies.
- Stay current on changes to HHSC guidelines and communicate updates to relevant teams.
- Performs other related duties as identified and assigned by Residential Services Program Director and/or Agency leadership.
- Contributes to suicide care and prevention by embracing our values and applying a trauma-informed approach rooted in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
What qualifications you will need:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance, Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional preferred.
Experience:
- One (1) year of experience reviewing or auditing ICF and ISS programs for federal, state, local, and HHSC regulations and policies. OR Two (2) years of experience working in social service with duties to include documentation and record keeping required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal program policies and laws, of financial and medical eligibility program policies, and of agency quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
