DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an at-will administrative position within the Home Office. The position is responsible for assisting Turning Point’s Health Information department with ensuring the privacy of our members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

- Applies clinical knowledge and participates in the design, development, implementation, validation, and maintenance of EHR and other systems.
- Ensure the integration of EHR systems with other health information systems to enhance data interoperability and client care coordination.
- Manage patient health information and medical records, collecting and analyzing patient data and using classification systems and medical terminologies.
- Maintain and oversee compliance with data security and health information privacy regulations, ensuring the safety, archiving and warehousing of all client information.
- Consult with the Director on goals, strategy, and vision, and advise on operational problems.
- Provide user support and training.
- Assist with coordinating requests of programs for system modifications and enhancements.
- In collaboration with others, provides necessary data for analysis, interpretation and development of recommendations based on findings.
- Develops and generates routine and/or ad-hoc reporting.
- Respond quickly and effectively to requests for in-depth troubleshooting, creation of custom solutions, documenting software defects.
- Manage and resolve tickets through a helpdesk system.
- Stays current on the capabilities and application of standard and customized templates to ensure accurate and efficient documentation processes.
- Maintain a knowledge base to document specific training needs. Assist in creating and maintaining user documentation.
Knowledge Of:
- Turning Point’s Mission, Vision and Core Values
- Privacy laws, release of information, and principles of HIM
- Technical expertise regarding database design development; understanding of SQL; adept at queries and report writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Electronic health records (NextGen, SmartCare and Cerner preferred).
- Data-mining techniques and procedures, including the understanding of when their utilization is appropriate.
- Coding classification systems.
Ability To:
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Manage patient health information and medical records; collecting and analyzing patient data and using classification systems and medical terminologies.
- Present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.
- Travel to multiple locations typically via personal vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from an accredited university or college with a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field OR at least five (5) years of relatable experience. Registration as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
- California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance and registration
- Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Compensation: $37hr to $40Hr
