Description
The Hydraulics Account Manager is the company’s primary contact with customers and prospects. This associate is responsible for providing sales coverage and developing the best possible market penetration for the company’s hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion control products within the Fort Worth territory—covering areas west of Fort Worth (including Midland & Odessa), extending north through Amarillo, and up to the Oklahoma border.
This associate will initiate and maintain continuing sales relationships with accounts, calling on them in a regular and consistent manner. The Hydraulics Account Manager will grow territory sales volume, secure gross margin expectations, meet customer expectations, and achieve budgets and goals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Grow sales in the Fort Worth territory by communicating with customers via phone, email, and in-person sales visits.
- Maintain and increase sales volume of assigned accounts by aggressively pursuing new business opportunities through planned sales strategies and company marketing programs.
- Develop trusted relationships with customers across engineering, purchasing, operations, and management by providing technical assistance, excellent customer service, and delivering on expectations.
- Provide technical support to customers in adapting hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion control products to their requirements and specifications.
- Continuously expand technical knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion control technologies to identify new applications and opportunities.
- Identify and target key strategic accounts in the territory to win business from competitors.
- Manage assigned territory by leveraging CRM to track and report on sales activities, pipeline opportunities, competitor profiles, and customer information.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and suppliers to deliver value-added solutions and strengthen customer and supplier relationships.
- Address and resolve customer concerns in accordance with company policy, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Maintain and submit accurate records, including sales forecasts, expenses, and call reports, on a timely basis.
- Train internal associates and external customers on the technical applications of hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion control products.
- Conduct effective product presentations and demonstrations for customer teams.
- Actively contribute to team meetings with service center associates to ensure alignment on customer needs, sales activities, and overall territory strategy.
- Collaborate with supplier sales teams to uncover new opportunities, support customer development, and expand product usage.
- Support company goals for continuous improvement by following established sales processes and customer service standards.
- Operate in compliance with all national, state, and local laws.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven B2B sales experience, preferably in hydraulic, industrial, technical, or motion control applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Technical ability to read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics; CAD proficiency a plus.
- Familiarity with PLCs, automation, or programming in machine/PC platforms is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve customer challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/ERP systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, technical schooling, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of previous account management or B2B sales experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Majority of work is completed in the field, with occasional administrative work in-office or after hours.
- Occasional work in warehouse or office as backup when operations are needed.
- Regular travel throughout the Fort Worth territory, west Texas (including Midland & Odessa), Amarillo region, Oklahoma border area, with occasional overnight stays.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a well-kept vehicle that represents the company appropriately.
