Distribution Manager at M-D Building Products, Inc.

The Outbound Distribution Manager directs and manages all warehouse employees responsible for outbound operations, shipping, logistics, and distribution-related activities. This role provides strategic leadership to drive the deployment of operational excellence initiatives while promoting team development through coaching, mentoring, and talent management. The position is accountable for ensuring efficient order fulfillment, on-time delivery performance, and cost-effective shipping operations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily shipping operations to ensure on-time delivery performance.
• Coordinate with customer service and sales teams to prioritize urgent shipments and ensure timely delivery.
• Implement load planning strategies to optimize truck utilization and delivery efficiency.
• Monitor and manage shipping backlogs to prevent disruptions to customer service.
• Monitor labor costs, overtime expenses, and operational expenditure.
• Oversee finished goods inventory accuracy and the cycle count program.
• Manage product allocation and availability to support customer commitments and ensure timely delivery.
• Ensure proper inventory rotation to minimize obsolescence and waste.
• Create individual development plans and career progression pathways.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support employee development.
• Lead cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and optimize processes.
• Oversee warehouse management system (WMS) functionality and optimization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive management experience in distribution or logistics operations preferred
• Proven track record of managing large teams in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in the manufacturing or wholesale distribution industry preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
• Ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff, managers, customers, and vendors
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to plan and accomplish goals based on experience and sound business judgment
• Ability to reach company goals in a creative and latitude-rich environment with minimal supervision
• Process-thinking mentality with focus on standardization and continuous improvement
• Understanding of material management methods, including MRP planning and demand forecasting
• WMS software expertise with experience in system configuration and optimization
• Experience in training and coaching on cascading metrics and KPI management
• Above-average MS Office skills, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Experience using Oracle ERP systems for inventory and financial management

1st Shift Hours are 6:30 am-3:00 pm Monday-Friday
