We are looking for an awesome person to oversee the management of training and provide operational support, ensuring safety, quality, regulatory requirements, departmental policies, and business rules are followed. Manage and mentor assigned Donor Services training staff. Oversee and develop Donor Services training program and curriculums to ensure effective staff training based on adult learning styles and maintain compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain quality practices while continually seeking to improve and expand performance and knowledge for self and staff. 

Responsibilites: 

Personnel Management: Provide direction and motivation for the Training Coordinators; In conjunction with Director of Mobile Operations, and Human Resources, interview, make hiring, promotion, demotion and termination recommendations, and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports; Assess, document, and monitor attendance, performance, and productivity of direct reports. 

Operational Oversight: Develop and implement departmental training documents, curriculums and programs with guidance from Director, Fixed Site Operations and Director, Mobile Operations; Oversee and conduct departmental training sessions; Review and revise departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Training Manual with Procedure Development to ensure that SOPs and protocols are in control and meet or exceed the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), compliance standards, and regulatory requirements of the Blood Banking industry. Participate in the Change Control Process to investigate and initiate corrective actions aimed at resolving the impact of changes related to Donor Services, ensuring that the effects on collection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are documented.  Liaises with managers/directors and staff to ensure that procedures that affect quality production are properly understood and modifications are investigated and made if necessary. Investigates and initiates corrective action to resolve Donor Services events:

  • SIR Initiation and Investigation
  • Duplicate Donors Investigation

Administration: Monitor staff errors, KPI metrics parameters, and training progress, to make performance improvement recommendations to ensure appropriate training follow up and development of staff.; Review and submit BBCS and security forms for new hires and position changes; Monitor CDL and authorized driver training process; Ensure compliance with organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and operator’s manuals; Partner with the Donor Services Directors  to prepare and monitor adherence to the department’s business plan and annual budget; Coordinate dates for departmental meetings, Education Days, and Holiday hours for upcoming year; Attend meetings, seminars, and workshops as required.

Record Keeping: Ensure department procedural documents are reviewed and updated in accordance with approved schedules, maintain training attendance, and related training documents.

Organizational Leadership: Demonstrate and ensure that the highest levels of service and professionalism are exhibited. Ensure effective communication of organizational information amongst staff, maintain constructive and cooperative interdepartmental relationships. Leverage knowledge and interpersonal skills to achieve departmental goals; Perform duties of other Donor Services Managers in their absence.

Other: Serves as back up for process control reports (BBCS Day end reports). Participate in med history/ staff scheduling on call rotation. Generate Post donation Information, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in the rotating on-call schedule to receive and respond to website/email generated donor eligibility inquiries; Prepare and/ or assist with donor reentry documentation to update donor eligibility, assign deferral codes/dates and ensure that all donor deferral data is accurately recorded in the computer database as necessary. Meet and exceed employee program expectations of AMO CommYOUnity! standards Rewards & Recognition, Communication, Individuality, Integrity, Respect, and Pursuit of Excellence.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required.  College Degree preferred. College degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.  
  • A minimum of 3 years of  educational curriculum development and teaching/ training/ staff development. Prefer experience in blood center or relevant industry.
  • Supervisory, lead, and/or teaching experience is required.
  • Demonstrated high-level of organizational, logical, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office required; blood bank software preferred.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills required. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills are required. 
  • Experience making priority determinations under pressure and working without direct supervision.
  • Punctual, dependable, and detail oriented. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.

 

Physical/Mental Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Texas driver’s license, and be able to provide a copy of an acceptable driving record and proof of liability insurance. 
  • Ability to multi-task and make sound judgments in a busy and distracting environment.
  • Capable leader and team builder. Ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to exhibit professional conduct and demeanor at all times as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively and positively with others as a team member.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including travel, evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
  •  Ability to maintain on-call responsibilities, and flex set schedule to include evenings, or alternate days of the week as needed including Saturdays/Sundays.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
