Norwich Free Academy (NFA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Boys’ Hockey Coach to support the Norwich Hockey Club (NHC). This stipend-based role ($7,000 annually) works alongside the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, and team operations. The Assistant Coach provides mentorship to student-athletes and contributes to fostering a high-performance, student-centered environment built on teamwork, sportsmanship, and growth.
Responsibilities include assisting with practices and games, supporting strategy and player development, managing team logistics, and ensuring effective communication with athletes and families. The position requires strong hockey knowledge, prior coaching experience preferred), and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
Qualifications:
- USA Hockey Coach Education Program certification is required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience in hockey coaching or athletics administration required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of hockey fundamentals, strategies, and player development.
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes and families.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
