Job Description
Position: Wellness Manager
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Rate: Level V
Reports to: Store Manager
Purpose:
The Wellness Manager oversees the Wellness Department to ensure it meets the expectations of our members and customers while supporting the Co-op’s mission and goals. This role leads the wellness team, fostering a safe, engaging, and growthoriented environment for staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Management
- Maintain deep knowledge of all wellness products and communicate their value to customers.
- Research new items and assist in vendor selection in collaboration with the Retail Team.
- Ensure accurate merchandising, pricing, and inventory levels across all categories.
- Conduct quarterly inventory audits with designated staff.
Staff Leadership
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage staff in alignment with HR guidelines.
- Foster a culture of accountability and goal achievement through regular feedback and development tools.
- Lead by example to promote a positive and productive work environment.
Customer Experience
- Ensure a welcoming and informative shopping experience.
- Educate customers on product philosophy through signage, events, digital platforms, and direct interaction.
- Actively seek and respond to customer feedback.
Financial Oversight
- Manage departmental budgets, including payroll, purchasing, and operational expenses.
- Collaborate with staff and Retail Team to optimize ordering, pricing, and inventory strategies.
- Analyze financial reports and item movement to drive sales and profitability.
- Uphold all cash handling procedures and ensure register accuracy.
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee daily operations, scheduling, and task execution.
- Coordinate with internal departments (Accounting, HR, IT, etc.) to support store functions.
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant facilities that meet health and safety standards.
- Ensure staff understand and follow operational procedures and legal requirements.
Marketing & Merchandising
- Implement promotional and pricing strategies in coordination with Marketing and Retail teams.
- Organize product demos and samplings.
- Develop signage and educational materials to highlight producers and product benefits.
- Maintain high standards for department presentation.
Additional Duties
- Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including one weekend day.
- Fill in for staffing gaps and communicate schedule changes with store leadership.
- Stay informed on personnel, margin, and sales reports.
- Participate in broader store and Co-op management initiatives.
- Support compliance with health, safety, and legal standards across the Co-op.
- Protect Co-op assets through proper use and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- At least 2 years of customer service experience
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of Weavers Way Co-op.
- Proficient in POS systems, financial reporting, and basic accounting procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Proven leadership in team settings, including hiring and staff development.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Capable of working independently and exercising sound judgment.
- Available for evening and weekend shifts.
- Must be or become a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op upon hire.
