Our culture values ownership, clear communication, and process excellence. We are seeking a Sr. Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. In this role, you will review, research, analyze, and price large deals of $1M or greater in gross annual revenue. 

This position is an in-office position, located in Alexandria, Virginia.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to review and price a full range of deals, including $1M+ gross annual revenue, considering affordability, credit, and numerous risk factors;
  • Add required stipulations as appropriate;
  • Communicate with sales reps regarding adjustments to pricing and required steps;
  • Discuss and update on the competitive landscape both in terms of pricing and commissions;
  • Attend all credit committee meetings and provide insight and opinion regarding the viability of a deal;
  • Train and support Underwriters.
  • Review pricing and evaluation strategies including deal grading and industry-specific details;
  • Perform final review for funding, including review of all documents, research, and bank activity, as directed;
  • Participate in quarterly performance reviews including review of defaults;
  • May be required to perform other tasks and duties reasonably related to job responsibilities.

Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred;
  • 1-3 years of consumer and or commercial underwriting required;
  • Experience with financial analysis required;
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing individual and company credit reports;
  • Strong analytical skills; 
  • Skilled at multi-tasking; able to coordinate, organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities and unexpected situations;
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM is desirable; ability to manage multiple software applications; 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are a must;
  • Strong work ethic; 
  • High level of discretion.
