Description
The Quality Assurance Lab Technician is responsible for maintaining quality standards for incoming ingredients and grain across all Cooperative Farmers Elevator (CFE) feed mills. This role involves monitoring micron levels, recording test results, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality protocols. The technician plays a key role in optimizing operational efficiency, supporting the cooperative’s mission, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Requirements
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Inspect and document the quality of grain and ingredients received at the mill and from other CFE locations.
- Measure and record micron levels from feed mills across CFE.
- Collect and log samples of daily incoming ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the quality assurance lab and receiving areas.
- Identify deviations from standard product grades and promptly report findings to the supervisor.
- Evaluate potential contamination risks from foreign materials in assigned work areas.
- Ensure proficiency with and adherence to the facility’s HACCP plan.
- Input and maintain accurate data records for future analysis.
- Locate and prepare samples for customer shipments.
Receiving & Support
- Assist with receiving operations as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments including warehouse, micro room, and receiving areas.
- Support special projects and cross-functional tasks as assigned.
Reporting
- Immediately report discrepancies in data or test results to the supervisor.
- Communicate potential issues or business opportunities related to the department.
- Notify the supervisor of unsafe equipment, working conditions, or maintenance needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all cooperative policies and procedures.
- Comply with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HACCP or a related quality assurance role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and customer service abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to follow leadership direction and contribute expertise.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Frequent walking and reaching; occasional standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
