About the Job
Mount Laurel Animal Hospital supports a large, fast-paced, multi-doctor primary care service comprised of a team of dedicated individuals. The role of a Primary Care Veterinary Assistant includes, but is not limited to, obtaining medical histories, maintaining the flow of appointments throughout the day, taking radiographs, performing venipuncture, client education, and more. The veterinary technician must be able to work with cats, dogs and occasionally exotic species.

Responsibilities 
Assist doctors in exam rooms
• Prepare vaccines and fill preventatives
• Restrain for venipuncture, exams, and treatments
Express anal glands and perform nail trim
Set up and perform radiographs (clinical setting)
Venipuncture (preferred)
Stock and clean workspaces
Obtain patient history and enter into electronic medical record

• Practice fear-free initiatives

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to lift, restrain and carry animals or equipment weighing up to 40lbs
• Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, and bending for extended periods
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on department needs

Qualifications and Skills
Some experience in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant preferred
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork and collaboration across departments
• Excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills
