Job Summary/Objective
We are seeking a detail-oriented Head of Finance & Accounting to join our team to plan and direct the accounting operations of the company, including management of all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes. The ideal candidate will also possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial concepts to support our financial planning and analysis activities. This candidate will analyze past financial performance to predict future performance and to advise the company on its financial strategy. This position will report directly to the CEO of the organization and will also work extremely closely with all members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as well as the greater Shop-At-Home division financial leadership team. Essential Functions
- Manage all employees of the accounting department and is responsible for the performance of the employees within that department.
- Responsible for supervising the accounting procedures of the company.
- Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.
- Responsible for the development of policies and procedures, systems, financial analysis, etc. Advises management in these areas.
- Responsible for managing the monthly close process including balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s financial procedures and internal accounting controls.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of internal accounting controls to minimize risk.
- Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to provide insights for decision-making.
- Develop financial reports and presentations for senior management.
- Collaborate with various departments to analyze financial data and performance.
- Utilize systems and tools for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation.
- Recommend benchmarks and key performance indicators used to measure the company’s performance.
- Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit and tax returns for the US and Canada.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Competencies
Accounting
- Advanced knowledge of MS office with emphasis in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Experience with all aspects of an integrated accounting system such as Epicor, Great Plains, SAP or Oracle.
- Experience working with ERP and CRM; Salesforce preferred.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage stress within a high-volume, high-energy environment working with a diverse management team.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with our external and internal customers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to hire, develop and coach accounting team members to accomplish departmental goals.
FP&A
- Proficiency in financial concepts and math, with strong strategic planning abilities.
- Experience with analytics tools and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Understanding of corporate finance practices.
- Ability to create data visualizations for reporting purposes.
- Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
- Thorough understanding of project management & demonstrated financial acumen for decision support.
Background & Experience
Education & Credentials
- CPA designation strongly preferred (active or inactive acceptable).
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field required, MBA a plus.
Professional Experience
- 8–12 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 4–6 years in FP&A or finance leadership roles (budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and business partnering).
- Early career or foundational experience in public accounting or technical accounting (Big 4 or large firm strongly preferred) to ensure technical rigor.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading FP&A processes that drive strategic insights for senior leadership.
- Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, or cross-border businesses is a plus
- Prior exposure to retail, consumer products, or service-driven industries are desirable.
Travel
- Travel is not required for this position.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Portland, Oregon based; hybrid work environment.
- Routine usage of multiple computer screens simultaneously.

- FLSA Classification: full-time, exempt.
