The Coordinator of The Artists Lab is responsible for supporting The Artists’ Lab department at AMDA Los Angeles. The Artists’ Lab provides a vital platform for students to develop and showcase original work as writers, directors, choreographers, performers, filmmakers, and producers. Through mentorship, performance opportunities, and hands-on experience, the Coordinator supports students in cultivating their creative voices while advancing their artistic and professional goals.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate The Artists’ Lab programming including, but not limited to, Student Vision Projects, Student Vision Film Projects, In-Development Projects, and Studio Sessions.
  • Curate and support the development and presentation of original student work across performance and film mediums.
  • Secure and support faculty mentors and panelists for all programming.
  • Conduct a pitching workshop and track all pitches, projects, processes (including student meetings).
  • Review all materials from student submissions and determine projects for interviews based on panel feedback.
  • Schedule and attend interview, lead the discussion with panel in determining projects chosen to move forward.
  • Attend production meetings and coordinate production tech / space needs, making room requests as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Director of Film Production for review / consultation / approvals as needed.
  • Facilitate and track all credit-bearing student projects, including course setup, syllabi, Canvas course management, and academic oversight.
  • Review, update, and maintain the Student Vision Producer Guide.
  • Collaborate with the production office and relevant departments to support casting, scheduling, ticketing, props, and mentorship logistics, troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain objectivity for any decisions on projects, including final selections, determining parameters, and mediating between student and mentor.
  • Collect and organize sample works for Snapshot consideration. Contribute ideas on excerpts to show for Snapshots screening and presentation.
  • Track hours used in the role and provide updated pool hours to management as requested.
  • Attend Artists’ Lab session at Orientation (paid at teaching rate).
  • Attend screenings, run-throughs, tech, and rehearsals (paid at production rate).
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be a current AMDA faculty member.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters or terminal degree preferred.
  • 5 years relevant industry professional experience required, 7+ years preferred.
  • 5 years of teaching experience required, 7+ years of higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • 4 years academic administration experience required, 6+ years of administration experience, including at a senior level preferred.
 
Position Information:
  • This is a part-time position. Schedule based on department needs.
  • The pay rate for this position is $35.00/hour. The person in this role will receive a pool of 75 hours to complete responsibilities. Some additional hours may be required to be paid at other rates, including teaching or production rates.
  • The end date for this position is February 13, 2026.
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
  • This is a fully in-person Position.
