TITLE: Math Tutor
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's Degree, preference given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in math. 2. Direct experience working with children. 3. Demonstrated competency in a range of high school level mathematics (pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, etc.). 4. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and other computer software. 5. Strong organizational skills and effective problem solving skills. 6. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff members, students, parents, and community providers. 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Secondary Curriculum Supervisor of Math
JOB GOAL: Provides support to specialized area of instruction. Areas of involvement are reinforcement of students' academic success, testing, home/school relations, study and organizational skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works one-on-one or with small groups of students in a drop-in tutoring setting to assist their development of skills and understanding of related math concepts.
Monitors and facilitates students' use of computer programs.
Maintains student records and prints out student progress reports to keep parents and staff informed of the student's progress.
Monitors homework centers/study halls as necessary.
Provides classroom coverage as requested by school administration.
Assume other duties and functions as may be assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Six hours per day. Ten-month year. Hourly rate of $23.34.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
