About the Role:
The Assistant Director of Operations supports the Director in overseeing all food and beverage operations across multiple venues at Eppley Airfield. This leadership role focuses on operational efficiency, service excellence, team development, and financial performance. The Assistant Director works closely with frontline teams and department leads to ensure consistent execution, compliance with health and safety regulations, and delivery of a best-in-class guest experience. This is a hands-on leadership role for a results-driven professional with strong food service and operational expertise.
What you will do:
- Support the Director in managing the day-to-day operations across all food and beverage outlets including restaurants, bars, grab-and-go stations, and catering services.
- Lead frontline and supervisory teams to ensure operational consistency, service quality, and compliance across all departments.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and training to support productivity and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and improve key performance metrics including labor, food cost, and overall profitability.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends, address variances, and support strategic planning.
- Assist in developing and executing department budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures aligned with company standards and airport regulations.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address escalated service concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support initiatives related to menu innovation, vendor partnerships, and service enhancements.
- Ensure all operations comply with TSA, local health department, and labor laws.
- Act as a key point of contact in the absence of the Director, providing continuity and leadership support.
What you will bring:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in food and beverage operations, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage multi-unit or high-volume service environments.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills with a hands-on management style.
- Excellent financial acumen and operational decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and food service management systems.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required.
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to pass an airport background check and qualify for airport badging.
- Physical requirements include standing for long periods, walking throughout the airport, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Experience in airport or regulated hospitality operations.
- Familiarity with TSA and airport compliance procedures.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
