Position Overview:

Holyoke Public Schools seeks a motivated and hands-on Carpentry CTE Assistant to support our vocational carpentry instructors in delivering high-quality, career-focused technical education. This role is ideal for someone with industry experience in carpentry who is passionate about guiding students and assisting in a classroom and workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist instructors in implementing hands-on carpentry lessons, shop work, and projects.

  • Support classroom and lab set-up, organization, tool preparation, and cleanup.

  • Supervise students during practical activities to ensure safety and engagement.

  • Help reinforce safety protocols and assist with instruction on the proper use of tools and equipment.

  • Monitor student progress during tasks and provide constructive feedback under instructor supervision.

  • Aid in managing inventory, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean, functional shop environment.

  • Support students with diverse learning needs in developing technical and employability skills.

  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive learning atmosphere.

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking student attendance, tool check-outs, and project documentation.

  • Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in carpentry preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent, full-time experience in the carpentry or construction field.

  • Familiarity with carpentry tools, machinery, materials, and safety procedures.

  • Prior experience working with youth or in an educational setting is a plus.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
