Position Overview:
Holyoke Public Schools seeks a motivated and hands-on Carpentry CTE Assistant to support our vocational carpentry instructors in delivering high-quality, career-focused technical education. This role is ideal for someone with industry experience in carpentry who is passionate about guiding students and assisting in a classroom and workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist instructors in implementing hands-on carpentry lessons, shop work, and projects.

Support classroom and lab set-up, organization, tool preparation, and cleanup.

Supervise students during practical activities to ensure safety and engagement.

Help reinforce safety protocols and assist with instruction on the proper use of tools and equipment.

Monitor student progress during tasks and provide constructive feedback under instructor supervision.

Aid in managing inventory, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean, functional shop environment.

Support students with diverse learning needs in developing technical and employability skills.

Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive learning atmosphere.

Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking student attendance, tool check-outs, and project documentation.

Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development as required.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in carpentry preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of recent, full-time experience in the carpentry or construction field.

Familiarity with carpentry tools, machinery, materials, and safety procedures.

Prior experience working with youth or in an educational setting is a plus.

Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team.
