POSITION: BRANCH MANAGER

TYPE/CLASSIFICATION: REGULAR-FULLTIME: SALARY, EXEMPT

REPORT TO: AVP, BRANCH OPERATIONS

DIRECT REPORTS: BRANCH STAFF

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $90,000 DOE 


PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Branch Manager is responsible for leading the team to achieve the highest level of service, operations and compliance standards and ensuring quality service to members in account transactions, loan applications, and new account interactions, including problem resolution. Responsible for business development and achieving established growth targets for the credit union, by active engagement in the community served through network memberships and event management.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES, INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Active engagement in the community served through network memberships and event management.
  • Manage Branch security/safety. Examine, monitor, and train staff on security/safety policies/procedures on an on-going basis.
  • Lead the branch team by maintaining a highly motivated, well-trained staff, while maintaining effective employee relations.
  • Recommend, implement, and supervise the budget for the branch.
  • Apply and evaluate policies and procedures for the branch. Ensure that the branch is in compliance with federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Branch Manager, lead staffing of the branch to ensure a high-quality workforce that meets the needs of the membership through effective recruitment, training, performance monitoring and coaching, and career development of the branch team. 
  • Positively collaborate with internal and external audit teams to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulations.
  • Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and attendance issues, as necessary. 
  • Monitor branch activity metrics, including (but may not be limited to) number of transactions, volume, teller errors, loan volume, teller and personal sales, and new accounts.
  • Monitor key products/sales within branch to ensure profitable and sound business practices and a high quality of service for members.
  • Positively collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure the team culture of the Credit Union. Schedule adequate staff to ensure efficient branch operation.
  • Conduct loan interviews and process loan requests, including funding.
  • Monitor branch operations to ensure a consistent, professional approach.
  • Assist staff or members in solving complex account problems.
  • Create and maintain a member needs-based sales environment within the branch. Train employees to maximize opportunities to service members through identifying and taking action to sell appropriate products.
  • Communicate any inefficiencies in processes, equipment, programs, and facilities to AVP Branch Operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Credit Union.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role often operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment. The role may often require standing for large periods of time, while conducting presentations. It may also require physical demands of carrying supplies or equipment which may weigh up to 50 lbs.


Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Minimum of 7 years financial institution member services, operations and lending experience, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 year of supervisory experience in member/customer service or equivalent, in a Credit Union is preferred.
  • Knowledge of establishing new account, developing relationships, loan consultation, service delivery, following policies and government regulations related to financial institutions
  • Effective people skills, including excellent communication skills, including active listening, and providing clear direction
  • Requires the ability to communicate courteously and professionally, both in writing and verbally. 
  • Detail oriented, well organized and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Computer proficiency required Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Various Credit Union systems experience preferred.
