The AVID Tutor Manager coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of AVID tutors across assigned campuses. This position ensures fidelity to the AVID tutorial process, provides ongoing support to tutors, and works collaboratively with campus AVID coordinators and teachers to promote student success in rigorous coursework.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
AVID training and/or experience in education preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to recruit, train, and supervise staff effectively
Knowledge of AVID methodologies and tutorial strategies
Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, and tutors
Proficiency in scheduling, data management, and basic computer applications
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in tutoring, AVID, or instructional support
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Tutor Recruitment & Hiring
Recruit, interview, and recommend qualified AVID tutors for employment.
Collaborate with HR and campus leadership to ensure timely onboarding and background checks.
Maintain a pool of substitute tutors to meet program needs.
Training & Professional Development
Facilitate training for all AVID tutors on AVID tutorial strategies, collaborative practices, and district expectations.
Provide ongoing coaching and professional development aligned with AVID program goals.
Scheduling & Oversight
Develop and maintain tutor schedules across assigned campuses to ensure coverage for AVID elective classes.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and performance of AVID tutors.
Conduct site visits to provide feedback and ensure fidelity to the AVID tutorial process.
Collaboration & Support
Serve as the primary liaison between tutors, AVID site coordinators, and district leadership.
Support teachers and coordinators in embedding AVID tutorial methodologies within the classroom.
Model effective tutoring practices when needed.
Data & Compliance
Collect and analyze tutor performance and student progress data.
Maintain accurate records of tutor hours, evaluations, and professional development.
Ensure compliance with AVID Center requirements and district policies.
Other Duties
Assist in planning AVID events (e.g., college readiness workshops, field trips, family nights).
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
Ability to travel between district campuses as assigned
*Salary is commensurate with experience *Minimum Salary: $26,415 * This position requires on-site, in-person work and does not offer remote work options.
