About the role
Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Permit Coordinator on the Hinkley Point C Project.
About Hinkley Point C
The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
This is a fully site based role
What you'll be doing
- Monitor the permit to work system, to ensure compliance with company and client’s procedures and processes.
- Maintain a register of Method Statements in use and advise holders when a periodic review is required.
- Ensures copies of permits, or records of their issue, are kept for a specified period to enable auditing or incident investigation.
- Liase with relevant authorised personnel to organise supplementary permits and isolation certificates such as mechanical, electrical, confined space etc. in preparation for start of works.
- Organised, ability to prioritise and deliver within a high-paced environment.
- Commitment drive and the ability to work on one’s own initiative
- Adhere to established procedures for all work done under the permit-to-work system.
Who we're looking for
- Level 3 qualified in a technical or construction related discipline, or demonstrable relatable experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft office including good level of understanding in Excel.
- Can achieve Security Clearance BPSS
- CCNSG Safety Passport or HSE TEST
- Experience in Engineering or process background required.
- Track record in construction or nuclear projects preferred but not essential.
- Experience working on major construction projects preferred but not essential.
