About the Role:
The Business Office Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the business office. This position is responsible for managing patient billing, processing insurance claims, and maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth revenue cycle management. The role requires close collaboration with clinical staff, insurance providers, and patients to resolve billing inquiries and facilitate timely payments. Additionally, the Business Office Assistant helps streamline office workflows by organizing documentation, scheduling appointments, and assisting with general office duties. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall efficiency and financial health of the healthcare facility by ensuring accurate and timely business office operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business administration or related field preferred.
- Experience with medical billing and coding or healthcare office administration.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with healthcare insurance policies and regulations such as HIPAA.
- Experience working in a healthcare or medical office environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Process and verify patient insurance information and eligibility.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Manage patient billing statements and handle payment processing.
- Respond to patient and provider inquiries regarding billing and account status.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating office communications.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
