Under the direction of the Program Manager II for Pediatric Health Equity & Special Projects, the Health Educator- Parent Coach assists families by facilitating the completion of pediatric screeners, meticulously documenting results, and providing tailored follow-up support based on identified patient needs. The Health Educator- Parent Coach will also help support the development and implementation of dyadic care services, in particular, Adult/Caregiver ACE’s screeners. The parent coach will act as a crucial link between healthcare providers and families, ensuring comprehensive care coordination and empowering parents to address their child’s specific needs effectively.


Reports to: Program Manager II -  Pediatric Equity and Special Projects

Qualifications:

1.  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in public health, child development, or a closely related field.

2.  Extensive knowledge of maternal and child health issues.

3.  Ability to communicate well orally and written, and give group presentations and one-on-one education.

4.  Ability to work with diverse patient populations and at-risk clients.

5.  Knowledge and experience working with health service benefits, social service programs, and/or mental health services.

6.  Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures

7.  Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.

8.  Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others. 

9.  Effective work organization skills. 

10. Ability to work effectively as a team player.

11. Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.

12. Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.

13. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.

14. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision.   Self-starter, reliable and dependable.  

15. Demonstrated proficiency with the electronic health record database within three months of attending training session(s).   

16. Fluency in English (speak, read and write) is required.

17. Fluency in Spanish (speak, interpret, read and write) is required.

18. Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations.

19. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.

20. Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
