Job Title: Career Navigator – Team Lead

SUMMARY
Provides Career navigation including case management, employment preparation services, job
placement and job retention services after placement to program participants in Career Services
programs. The Career Navigator – Team Lead will counsel participants and prepare them for
employment, economic self-sufficiency and social adjustment, and ensures program participants
are progressing towards the goals identified in the Individual Plan. The Career Navigator – Team
Lead will assist with training employees, auditing case files, planning, assigning and guiding work,
addressing complaints and resolving problems, and other supervisory responsibilities as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Provides case management services to participants:
• Record all participants and other stakeholders' contact (case noting).
• Conducts outreach, intake, assessments, and orientations for Career Services programs.
• Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests,
interviews, and professional sources to appraise participants’ interests, aptitudes, abilities,
and personality characteristics for vocational planning and/or employment placements.
• Compiles, studies, and provides occupational, educational, resources, and
economic information to participants to assist them in setting and carrying out
identified goals and objectives.
• Develop individual plans for participants that include appropriate goals and objectives
relative to abilities, interests, needs, experience, assessments, and labor market trends
and updates as needed. Tracks participant progress to ensure continual progression
towards their goals.
• Assists individuals to understand and overcome barriers to economic self-sufficiency and
social adjustment, and determines the support services necessary to overcome these
barriers.
• Conducts pre-employment training, acculturation training, financial literacy training, and
other topics as needed for program participants.
• Researches, develops, tracks, and maintains a network of community resources for
developing and implementing Individual Plans in the community.
• Identifies vocational training opportunities in the community. Refers and coordinates
vocational training for participants as needed.
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with resource partners, business and industry
in order to educate and advises regarding program services. Engages local employers to
promote the hiring of program participants.
• Provides job placement support services to assure job maintenance and retention.
• Assists participants in identifying other resources to enhance their opportunities for economic
self-sufficiency and social adjustment within the community and makes referrals as needed.
• Communicates professionally with supervisors, coworkers, program participants, community
agencies, and other stakeholders involved in service provision.
• Assists in developing and updating pre-employment training and other related training
materials and curriculum. Selects or develops teaching aids such as multimedia visual aids,
computer tutorials, etc. to enhance participant learning.
• Ability to deal effectively with difficult and on occasion, irate participants. Demonstrates ability
to de-escalate individuals with tact and understanding.
• Ensures that client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with contract, State, and
Federal law including HIPAA.
Completes all funder requirements in a timely manner:
• Maintains accurate and complete records for all program participants for the purpose of case
file maintenance, program reporting, and monthly billing.
• Compiles information for site reports including but not limited to Monthly Milestone
Achievement Form, Counselor’s reports, quarterly reports, outcome management report
etc.
Conducts job development activities with a variety of businesses to obtain employment opportunities
for participants:
• Works closely with the business community to stay abreast of job trends and current labor
market needs
• Participates directly with the business community to inform the business community of the
job placement services offered by the program and solicit job placement opportunities.
Coordinates program activities for the specific site.
Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing protective clothing and/or equipment
when appropriate. Complies with all safety standards.
Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.
Reports all program issues to the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director as appropriate.
Responsible to understand and support CARF accreditation standards.
Attends and participates in meetings, staff development sessions, and in-service training as
assigned.
Works on other projects or tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Assists Assistant Director / Program Coordinator
in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include reviewing and reporting work performance issues to the
Asst. Director / Program Coordinator, assisting with training employees, auditing case files,
planning, assigning and guiding work, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and other
supervisory responsibilities as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred and one to two years
related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Proficiency in
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; Supervisory experience preferred. Human
Services experience within the immigrant community preferred for positions requiring working with
immigrants.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability
to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. For positions
requiring working with immigrants, ability to communicate in a second language preferred
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar
graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where
only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Regular travel is required, must have a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.

conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
Core work hours are between 7:45am – 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Travel may be required.
