Make a difference as an Employee Relations Policy and Governance Specialist.

Join the largest general insurance group in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re a top-tier ASX-listed company helping to make the world a safer place through creating a stronger and more resilient business and enabling our portfolio of iconic insurance brands.

Your Role

As a Specialist in Employee Relations Policy & Governance, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how IAG responds to evolving employment legislation and workplace compliance. This is a strategic, high-impact position where your expertise will guide the development and implementation of policies that ensure fairness, legal integrity, and operational excellence.

You’ll lead key workstreams across enterprise-wide ER initiatives, including:

  • Wage compliance remediation and payroll governance, ensuring our practices meet regulatory standards and reflect best practice.
  • Award interpretation and employment law implementation, translating complex legal frameworks into clear, actionable policies and guidance.
  • Designing and delivering change programs that embed new legislative requirements across the organisation, working closely with Legal, Payroll, and People & Culture teams.

This role offers the opportunity to influence policy at scale, contribute to enterprise transformation, and be a trusted advisor in one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest insurance groups.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Gadigal Country (Sydney). While the role is location-specific, we welcome applications from candidates outside Sydney who are open to relocating. Please note that relocation support is not provided, so any move would need to be self-managed.

About You

You’re a strategic and solutions-focused ER professional who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about driving compliance and positive workplace change. You bring a strong legal lens, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to turn legislation into meaningful action.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Expertise in wage compliance, payroll governance, or leading remediation programs—this is a core requirement for the role.

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven experience as an ER practitioner in a commercial organisation of significant complexity, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and experience interpreting award clauses.
  • Experience in project and change management, including working with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and proactively resolve them.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • A proactive approach to staying across changes in the external environment and translating them into internal action.

If you're ready to take on a role that drives real change and challenges you to lead with purpose, we're ready for you.
