Job Description:
Summary:
Leads a payroll team to ensure accurate and timely multi-state, multi-entity payrolls through auditing, ongoing training/development of the payroll staff, and staying current on payroll compliance and best business practices.
*This position is in-office in Roseville, CA
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accuracy of payroll information through analysis, review, and audit of payroll records and reports.
- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, conducting performance appraisals and approving time off for the California Payroll team.
- Oversee and lead the biweekly payroll processing activities.
- Audits and approves manual checks.
- Oversees and audits the wage garnishment administration.
- Oversees and audits payroll banking and Positive pay activities.
- Assist in ensuring security protocols are being practiced by all payroll personnel.
- Provides and documents payroll process recommendations.
- Proactively assists with monitoring and updating payroll controls.
- Thoroughly audits/approves payroll reports prior to payroll transmission.
- Provides positive ongoing training and development for payroll specialists.
- Stays abreast with payroll Federal, and State payroll and employment laws.
- Responsible for leading the payroll month end activities including balancing month end entries.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and follow up on outstanding issues or items.
- Assists and leads payroll related projects as assigned.
- Assist in researching payroll related errors and assist in developing new controls to reduce errors.
- Collaborates closely with payroll team and responds appropriately to employee and department leaders’ requests.
- Assist Payroll Tax Team with the Year End review of information for accuracy of W-2’s.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- 5+ Years proven experience in a management role.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- CPP or FPC preferred.
- Excellent analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and lead multiple projects.
- Exceptional ability to gather and interpret data.
- Successful ability to work and lead a team in a fast-paced environment under limited time constraints.
- Must be proficient working with payroll systems that integrate with other systems.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal controls, etc.
- Comprehensive knowledge of wage and hour laws.
- Knowledge of general accounting and cost accounting.
- Familiar with SOX internal controls.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Computer Skills:
- Multiple HRIS/Payroll Systems including UKG, Workday, ADP EV6, ADP Reporting, ADP Self Service, ADP Health and Welfare Service Engine, ADP General Ledger
- Workday Reporting/Integrations to payroll systems such as ADP, UKG.
- Advanced working knowledge in Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, and formulas) including Word and Outlook

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone, video conferences and in person.

- Self-motivated and require minimal supervision.

The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.
Position's Pay Range:
$85,000 - $110,000This position is typically eligible for bonus-based incentive compensation, at the Company’s discretion.Benefits may include:
