BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the immediate direction of the Assistant Principal in charge of pupil personnel services and the coordinator of guidance, the high school counselors provide services to pupils and parents and school personnel which assist the pupil in making appropriate decisions relative to his/her educational objectives, his/her school program, and his/her relationship with teachers, administrators, and other pupils.

CALIFORNIA - PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES CREDENTIAL - SCHOOL COUNSELING
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
. FIVE YEARS SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC ADVISORY OR TEACHING IN A CORE SUBJECT (ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE OR SOCIAL STUDIES) AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL
. EXPERTISE IN A-G GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
. EXPERTISE IN JOB TRAINING REQUIRED
. KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMMON CORE
. STRONG ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS

1. PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION, AND MONITORING OF ALL PROGRAM COMPONENTS OF THE SCHOOL SITE TRANSFORMATION MODEL.
2. GAIN COMMITMENT FROM STAKEHOLDERS TO THE VISION, STRATEGY AND RESOURCES OF THE LYNWOOD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT.
3. FACILITATE THE INTELLECTUAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF STAFF TO SUPPORT INCREASED STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.
