White Bear Lake Area Schools are currently seeking a paraprofessional to work in a multi-age(grades 3-5) setting at Lincoln Elementary.

Position Summary:
Performs intermediate human support work providing alternative education to students in a specialized subject or assigned group of subjects, motivating students to develop skill in assigned subject matters while supporting appropriate conduct, speech, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the teacher.

This position is primarily assigned to the district's Explorations program for highly gifted students. It is a multi grade district program (Grades 3-5) that is located at Lincoln Elementary. The position supports students as they develop strategies addressing executive functioning, emotional and social needs. In addition, this position also assists a portion of the building's general education students socially, emotionally and behaviorally.

Provides instructional support for the district's school within a school program(Explorations) for highly gifted learners. Criteria preferred include the following:

Comfortable with individual or small group instruction
Organized
Self starter
Comfortable teaching math and language abilities beyond the elementary level
Good communicator
Knowledge of gifted learners is preferred but not required
Team player
Communicates clearly
Positive rapport with students and adults
Knowledge of gifted learners is preferred but not required

Education and /or Experience:
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience working with school aged children.
Associates/Technical degree preferred.

Special Requirements:
Must hold AA/AS degree,
Completed 60 semester credits,
Approved competency portfolio or pass MN Parapro test
