This position is located in St. Charles, MO.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and analyze individual and business tax returns for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Ensure all tax documentation is complete and accurate before filing deadlines.
- Identify potential tax issues and provide solutions or recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with tax preparers to clarify and resolve discrepancies in tax documents.
- Verify all deductions, credits, and exemptions claimed on tax returns.
- Stay updated on current tax regulations and industry trends impacting tax compliance.
- Assist in preparing for tax audits and liaising with auditors as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to tax return preparers in the review process.
- Maintain organized records of all reviewed tax documents and correspondence.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain tax return findings and recommendations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and review.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in CCH tax preparation software or other similar programs such as Ultra Tax and TaxAct
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in reviewing various tax returns, including individual, corporate, and partnership.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Experience with tax research and documentation of findings.
