PURPOSE: The Life Skills Specialist is responsible for providing consistent classes that build life skills. They learn from the residents what topics need to be taught and plan accordingly. They work closely with the Program Manager, Director, community partners, and other staff to determine the needs of the population. If needed, the specialist will reach out to members of the community to provide classes in their specialty. The specialist will work to understand the needs of the population and meet those needs.
Requirements
Job responsibilities:
- Coordinate classes and skills training with residents.
- Calendar all classes and make sure all residents are aware.
- Develop rapport with residents to encourage class attendance.
- Work closely with case management, property management, and residents to determine the type of classes that are needed.
- Connect with community resources and partners to encourage their involvement in classes.
- Use any budget allocated appropriately without overspending.
- Prepare a weekly report on resident attendance to deliver to property and case management.
- Communicate regularly with property and case management teams.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
- Experience in dealing with a vulnerable population - emphasis on mental health.
- Experience in teaching those who struggle with mental health issues
- Knowledge of life skills
- Experience in creating a curriculum.
COMPENSATION
Pay Rate: $19-20/hour
