Toledo Tool & Die is adding an Engineering Manager to our team to support our continued growth.

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of joining systems in a manufacturing setting. They manage a team of engineers and technicians, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and mentors a team of joining and automation engineers and maintenance team.
  • Supports/Consults on projects involving the design, installation, and optimization of joining systems (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA, APQP, FMEA).
  • Ensures joining processes meet all relevant codes (e.g., AWS D1.1) and quality standards.
  • Utilizes KPIs to drive continuous improvement in efficiency, uptime, and joining quality using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborates with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve joining issues.
  • Manages budgets of production ready equipment, timelines, and resources for automation projects.
  • Ensures all systems are maintained and upgraded according to lifecycle plans.
  • Develop, drive and support corporate and department activities towards achieving customer awards and Quality registrations (ex. IATF, ISO 14001,etc.)

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Weld Engineering and 5 years of experience OR, in lieu of degree, 10 years of experience in joining and manufacturing.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA) and ISO 9001/TS 16949 compliance.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and join inspection techniques (e.g., visual, ultrasonic, destructive testing).

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in programming and joining parameters.
  • Experience with PLCs and automation systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
