Status & Classification:    Regular | Part-Time | Non-Exempt


Payrate:  $30 ~ $35/hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule:  Tuesdays & Wednesdays | 8:30am ~ 4pm | 20 hours/week*

 *This position must accommodate a flexible work schedule with variable hours.

Position Summary

The Experimental Aircraft Build Instructor is responsible for accomplishing Wings Museum, onsite educational mandate and responsibilities. This position exists to facilitate Wings Aerospace Exploration (WAE) programs and help promote educational outreach. The Experimental Aircraft Build Instructor is a member of the Education department who works closely with the team. This position reports to the Director of Education.

Founded in 1994 on the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denver's historic Lowry Field neighborhood, Wings Over the Rockies is a non-profit community organization dedicated to unlocking dreams of flightthrough exhibits, local events, and educational programming. We are Colorado’s official Air & Space Museum having been recognized by CNN Travel as one of their 20 Best aviation museums in the world. Working Conditions

The Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Aviation Mechanic (A&P) certification is preferred, but prior experience as a lead in Experimental Aircraft building is acceptable
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21+) years of age or older
  • Prior experience as an instructor or teacher in formal or informal settings is preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance
  • Able to communicate clearly and positively with students
  • Experience operating aircraft tools/equipment and reading schematics
  • Prior experience building experimental or other aircraft is highly preferred
  • Personal pilot's license is desirable but not required
  • Self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Team-player experienced working on group projects
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
  • Computer proficiency including Office 365 and Google Workspace
  • Commitment to program diversity and inclusion
  • Able to operate in a workshop setting, tolerate loud noises, dust, odors, etc.
  • Must be able to push, pull, squat, and lift 50+ lbs.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (preferred) or attend Wings-sponsored CPR training
