Position: Adjunct Instructor of Counseling
Department: School of Education & Human Sciences
Status: Part Time
Position Summary:
The Counseling program is housed within the School of Education & Human Sciences. This position will instruct students according to the curriculum designed and developed by the Department and University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the department chair.
- Select and administer assignments and tests that permit measurement of performance relative to the course learning objectives.
- Evaluate and assess student performance.
- Meet deadlines as established by the School of Education & Human Sciences and University.
- Post grades to Campbell’s Self-Service portal and handle all student recordkeeping in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly, no later than one business day, to student emails and request for assistance.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security, including, but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal mandates.
Education/Experience:
- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program preferred. Special consideration will be given for non-CACREP doctoral-level candidates and/or MA-level candidates with a strong teaching identity and practical experience.
- Active and unrestricted license as a clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC, LCMHC-S preferred) or equivalent state license (such as LPC) for online teaching candidates.
- At least 2 years’ practical field experience as a clinical mental health counselor.
- Evidence of successful teaching at the graduate level within a counseling training program; preference given to candidates with experience in CACREP programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
- Experience teaching in hybrid and online modalities preferred.
- Experience using Blackboard or other learning management system (LMS) platform.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Communicate effectively to students, faculty, and administration through both oral and written channels.
- Maintain strict confidentiality for all internal school records, student work, and record-keeping.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication such as web/chat/text platforms.
- Comprehensive computer skills including the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, university officials and the public.
- Work independently and function effectively in a team with a diverse group of individuals.
- Exercise independent judgment in complex and/or new situations.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and offer attention to detail.
