Under the direction of the Administrative Director II, Information Technology, design, configure, implement and troubleshoot LAN/WLAN, VOIP and telecommunications systems, ensure security and inter/intra network accessibility; provide assistance to staff and faculty regarding network issues; install, maintain and troubleshoot firewall and network security functions; monitor network and application performance to assure quality of service; remove and replace network equipment as required; install, and repair associated cabling and peripheral equipment; design, configure, implement and troubleshoot networking solutions and cybersecurity measures to ensure robust and secure network operations.

Position Duties
THE EXAMINATION:
Qualifications Appraisal Interview: 100%
The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.
An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill open positions during the life of the list.
Examinations and interviews held to create the eligible list will be conducted virtually using different online/internet platforms that require video recording or conferencing capabilities, as well as access to a computer with internet connection and basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.
Minimum Qualifications
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Design, configure, implement and troubleshoot LAN/WLAN, security and inter/intra network accessibility; identify potential areas of growth, security and application of wired or wireless IP network devices; plan segregation and network traffic utilizing VLANs; assure effective system performance.
Provide assistance to staff and faculty regarding network issues including DHCP, DNS, authentication and authorization of network resources.
Install, maintain and troubleshoot firewall and network security functions; utilize access control objects and lists; configure security appliances to assure proper levels of accessibility; monitor for violations of rules and policies; detect and mitigate possible offenders including hacking, malware, Trojans and pirating.
Monitor network and application performance to assure quality of service; analyze packet flows and throughput; configure QoS parameters to monitor and qualify packet type.
Remove and replace network equipment as required; install and remove network switches and data patch cables; configure switches utilizing command line tools; configure port types, speed, duplex, VLAN membership and security features to allow accessibility; verify connectivity and accessibility of network devices.
Test end client connectivity for LAN and WLAN connections; verify IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS address, and ability to ping intra/inter network addresses; assure proper wiring and cabling, switches, ports and patches; replace defective parts as required; check for Wi-Fi interference or rogue devices; assure quality of Wi-Fi signals.
Assure network stability; analyze response time, availability, uptime and other performance metrics.
Secure individual data ports to prevent access of rogue devices.
Prepare and maintain records related to assigned activities and maintenance of system and user documentation; manage user groups and security access.
Operate and maintain a variety of specialized equipment and software related to the upgrade, installation and repair of network systems; utilize a variety of hand and power tools to make repairs.
Utilize network automation and monitoring tools to streamline operations and ensure optimal network performance.
Install, maintain and repair telecommunications related equipment including VOIP, telephony instruments, component parts, VOIP and telephony software and network devices; respond to and complete work worders.
Serve as liaison between district, vendors, EQ providers and other outside agencies; interface with vendors, equipment service providers and telephone providers to resolve problems, coordinate moves, adds, changes, upgrades, installation and service as required.
Maintain and update equipment and supply inventory; requisition and maintain an adequate supply of equipment and parts; maintain associated software databases and systems to ensure proper functionality of equipment and network operations.
Drive a service vehicle to and from work sites.

VOIP/telephony equipment, data network switches, component parts, software and cable structure.
Cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks and modern networking protocols such as SD-WAN.
Technical aspects of LAN and WAN system operations and maintenance.
Computer hardware systems and software applications utilized.
Database structures, on-line applications and system capabilities of assigned computer systems.
