The Deposit Services Specialist will perform a variety of duties related to the Mobile and Remote Deposit, Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transactions, payrolls, general ledger entries, share draft processing, and auto-transfers. Will also assist with other aspects of the Operations Department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Originate, process, return, and maintenance all types of transactions for ACH, payroll, automatic transfers, share draft files, ATM, wires, debt and credit cards.
- Assist members with questions/concerns about previously stated transactions.
- Order and maintenance debit and credit card requests and answer questions from members.
- Process stop payment orders for checks and electronic transactions as requested.
- Balance ach and share draft posting files to general ledger accounts on a daily basis.
- Process ACH Origination files for members.
- Process dairy assignments and payroll direct deposits submitted by check.
- Process Incoming and Outgoing Wires
- Complete OFAC Searches
- Review mobile check deposits and process mobile check and remote deposit files as files come in multiple times daily.
- Process checks, review overdraft items for decision, process returns and exceptions.
- Complete SSA Verifications.
- Perform a variety of activities necessary to assist the Operations Department in maintaining the financial, statistical, and accounting records for the Credit Union.
- Post general ledger entries and balance general ledger accounts.
- Perform other job related duties and services as supervisor sees appropriate.
Work Relationships and Scope: Reports directly to the Deposit Services Manager. Will have regular contact with members and employees of the Member Service department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
- Prior financial experience preferred.
- Previous experience in general ledger balancing required.

- Skillful listening, comprehension, and speaking ability to quickly decipher the needs of members and relate the pertinent information requested.
- Personal integrity for protecting and keeping confidential information as such.

- Proficient operation of a variety of general office equipment such as a computer, software applications, typewriter, copier, calculator, telephone, copy machine, fax machine and other similar devices or programs related to the position.
Working Conditions:
Job Conditions/Work Location: The majority of work will be performed in a normal office environment. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, education and other concerns. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Will make periodic visits to branch locations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time, regularly access files (some standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying of usually light materials.) Frequent mental and visual concentration required for computer usage.
Equipment Used: Various software programs, telephone, computer, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, and other office equipment.
Hazards: Only those present in a normal office setting; no known hazards. In the course of working with the public, the employee may, on a very limited basis, encounter abusive, aggressive or unpredictable threatening behavior. Must observe safety and security practices at all times.
