Boater’s World Marine Centers – Grand Prairie is seeking a full-time, highly experienced Parts Advisor to join our growing dealership. This role is essential to keeping our sales and service operations running smoothly, ensuring accurate parts sourcing, inventory control, and exceptional customer service for both retail and internal clients.


We are looking for a seasoned professional with at least 3 years of proven parts and inventory management experience — ideally in the marine, powersports, or automotive industries — who can hit the ground running and excel in a fast-paced dealership environment.


Key Responsibilities


Parts Inventory Management

  • Create purchase orders (POs) and place vendor orders for retail customers, service, and sales departments.
  • Generate and track special orders (SOs) for non-stock items.
  • Receive, inspect, label, and stock incoming parts to correct bin locations.
  • Assign service parts to the correct repair orders (ROs) and promptly notify the Service Department.
  • Contact customers when SO parts arrive, documenting all communication in the DMS.
  • Provide updates on backorders and estimated arrival times (ETAs).
  • Process returns in accordance with manufacturer and company policies.
  • Conduct weekly cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Work with the Accounting Department to maintain correct counts and cost accuracy.

Parts Counter & Sales Support

  • Assist retail and internal customers in identifying and sourcing accurate parts and accessories.
  • Proactively upsell complementary products to increase department revenue.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts counter and customer area.
  • Keep retail displays stocked and merchandised to company standards.
  • Collect and input customer contact information into the DMS.
  • Reconcile daily till and prepare department revenue reports.

Customer Service

  • Greet every customer with professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Engage customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Resolve customer issues with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.

Requirements

 

  • Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in parts ordering, inventory management, and counter sales in the marine, powersports, or automotive industries.  
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.  
  • Experience with a Dealership Management System (DMS); Lightspeed experience strongly preferred.  
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.  
  • Professional approach to handling customer concerns and problem-solving.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marine industry parts expertise, including boating equipment, outboards, and accessories.  
  • Knowledge of seasonal inventory trends in recreational industries.  
  • Demonstrated success in upselling and driving parts department revenue.  

Working Conditions

  • Retail environment with daily customer interaction.  
  • Saturday shifts required; extended hours during peak boating season.  
  • Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.  
  • Extended use of computers and phone systems.
