Department Summary:
Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, an integrated pediatric hematology and oncology program through Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital, provides — in one specialized program — world-class pediatric cancer and blood disease care at a children’s hospital that's ranked among the best in the nation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assisting clinician during examinations in a fast paced environment (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, rooming patients, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic).
  • Assisting with scheduling of appointments. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
  • Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
  • Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or Physician.
  • Obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments and entering related information on appropriate computer systems.
  • Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks.
  • Providing general support for clinical operations, including stocking, maintaining and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Maintaining safety and cleanliness of work area, ensuring area is compliant with regulatory and hospital policies.
  • Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed. 
  • Mon-Fri 6 hour shifts.
 
Minimum qualifications:
Education:
  • A HS Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
  • 1 year of Clinical Assistant experience or related healthcare experience.
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
