Description
The Supply Chain Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective flow of goods from procurement through production and shipment. This position combines key functions of purchasing, planning, and shipping. Responsibilities include sourcing and procuring materials, managing inventory, coordinating logistics and shipments, and collaborating across departments to ensure product and material flow aligns with customer and production needs.
Procurement
- Source, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, pricing, and delivery targets are met.
- Interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, optimize savings, and ensure on time delivery.
- Prepare and execute purchase orders based on demand forecasts and inventory requirements.
- Develop and maintain inventory levels to meet production schedules while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Conduct regular inventory analysis, identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and implement strategies for inventory optimization.
- Works with Receiving Inspection to ensure PO requirements are met as stated.
- Utilizes M3 and other tools to maintain accurate records, track orders, and manage inventory.
- Maintain and update Bills of Material (BOMs) in coordination with engineering and production.
- Works with Quality Assurance to resolve Non-Conforming Material Records.
- Advises Senior Management of key metrics such as inventory levels, supplier performance, and purchasing metrics.
Shipping
- Prepare and coordinate outgoing shipments, including labeling, packaging, and documentation.
- Examine contents and documents to verify accuracy of shipments.
- Arrange transportation with carriers and issue instructions for delivery.
- Record shipping data, including damages, weights, and freight costs.
- Generate shipping invoices and Certificates of Conformance.
- Maintain shipping materials and inventory of supplies.
- Work together with Accounting and Customer Service departments to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Prior experience in purchasing, shipping, or supply chain coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with inventory management, import/export regulations, and logistics software (UPS, FedEx, freight platforms).
- Understanding of basic accounting principles related to purchasing and shipping.
