Previous coaching experience in swimming is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to teach fundamental skills, develop strategies, and lead a competitive team.
Proven organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches.
Commitment to promoting good sportsmanship and modeling appropriate behavior for athletes, staff, and the school community.
Knowledge of and willingness to enforce all MHSAA rules and regulations, as well as Monroe Public Schools’ athletic policies and student code of conduct.
Dedication to fostering academic success and setting high expectations for student-athletes both in and out of the pool.
Ability to establish positive working relationships with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.
Must meet all MHSAA and district coaching certification requirements (including CPR/First Aid and Concussion training).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with middle school-aged athletes.
Ability to organize and conduct practices and meets in alignment with MHSAA guidelines.
Strong communication and motivational skills to support the development of student-athletes.
Responsibilities:
Plan and oversee practices, swim meets, and team activities.
Provide supervision, guidance, and support to student-athletes during practices and competitions.
Promote a positive team culture centered on respect, effort, integrity, and growth.
Maintain accurate records of student participation and meet eligibility requirements.
Coordinate with the athletic director, parents, and other school staff as needed.
Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
