- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Hold or eligible for State of Delaware teacher certification in Special Education
- Thorough knowledge of IDEA and IEP implementation
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrate skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills

POSITION OVERVIEW
Under direction of the Building Principal and Supervisor of Special Education Services, the Special Education Teacher provides direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and works in collaboration with the general education teacher. Monitors and evaluates outcomes for students with disabilities. Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

TRAINING
Appoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety-Care or a similar competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program as a condition of your continued employment.
