Job Summary:
The Police Clerk II processes and maintains the integrity of the Police Department files and records. The Police Clerk II performs a wide variety of general and/or specialized office support, clerical, and technical work in support of the Police Department; collects, records, transcribes, maintains, edits, and retrieves confidential law enforcement data and information; performs other support and assistance to other non-sworn functions and activities of the Police Department.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or General Educational Development diploma.
- At least 2 years of administrative or clerical support role.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the department, including organizing and coordinating record operations and procedures.
- Assist internal and external customers with inquiries regarding department functions and activities.
- Collaborate with other department staff to ensure efficient and effective record operations.
- Perform data entry and maintain electronic filing system.
- Prepare and distribute reports and correspondence as needed.
- Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.
Knowledge of:
- City organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
- City ordinances.
Skills in:
- Providing exceptional external and internal customer service.
- Communicating effectively.
- Performing detail-oriented work with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure with flexibility and professionalism.
- Working with a team.
- Operating a personal computer and various software programs.
- Maintaining confidentiality and integrity while handling sensitive matters.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed in a standard office environment with low to moderate noise level. Subject to sitting for an extended period of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting and putting away such items as records and office supplies of moderate weight of up to 40 pounds. Working with a wide variety of people.
