We’re looking for motivated, creative, and exceptional individuals to join our world-class team. As an Avionics Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the design, testing, and integration of avionics systems for planetary rovers. This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team driving the future of space exploration while gaining real-world engineering experience.
What you'll do:
- Assist in the design and testing of high-reliability avionics systems for space applications
- Support system-level trades to ensure avionics systems and components are robust and meet mission requirements
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration of mechanical, electrical, and software systems
- Use lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators, to troubleshoot and validate designs
- Participate in the development and testing of command & data handling, power, and motor control assemblies and subsystems
What you'll bring:
- Education: In the process of completing or recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
- Experience: At least 3 months of applied engineering experience outside of the classroom, including research, extracurricular project teams, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience
- Familiarity with lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
- Basic understanding of:
- Digital communication protocols (e.g., RS-232, SPI, CAN, I2C)
- Motor controller design and tuning for BLDC and PMSM motors
- Power systems design, including LDO regulators, Buck/Boost converters, and grounding schemes
- FPGA and MCU embedded systems
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to real-world engineering challenges
- Interest in spacecraft systems design and avionics development
- Familiarity with radiation effects and mitigation strategies on avionics systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
