Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity’s presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our world-class team.

We’re looking for motivated, creative, and exceptional individuals to join our world-class team. As an Avionics Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the design, testing, and integration of avionics systems for planetary rovers. This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team driving the future of space exploration while gaining real-world engineering experience.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in the design and testing of high-reliability avionics systems for space applications
  • Support system-level trades to ensure avionics systems and components are robust and meet mission requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration of mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Use lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators, to troubleshoot and validate designs
  • Participate in the development and testing of command & data handling, power, and motor control assemblies and subsystems

What you'll bring:

  • Education: In the process of completing or recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
  • Experience: At least 3 months of applied engineering experience outside of the classroom, including research, extracurricular project teams, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience
  • Familiarity with lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Digital communication protocols (e.g., RS-232, SPI, CAN, I2C)
    • Motor controller design and tuning for BLDC and PMSM motors
    • Power systems design, including LDO regulators, Buck/Boost converters, and grounding schemes
    • FPGA and MCU embedded systems
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to real-world engineering challenges
