HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST - BILINGUAL (SPANISH/ENGLISH)

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Terms:  Regular full time, exempt; eligible for a hybrid model of onsite and remote work and which may vary according to business need.

Compensation:   $55,000-$65,000 annually

Primary Purpose

Eureka Recycling is seeking a Bilingual Human Resources Generalist to support and administer a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment and hiring, onboarding, employee relations, payroll support, training coordination, and employee record-keeping. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an employee-supported and community-oriented environment. With approximately 130 employees and a strong Open Door Policy, Eureka Recycling offers a highly engaged, mission-driven workplace. The HR Generalist will interact regularly with employees across all departments, playing an active role in supporting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.


Responsibilities of the Bilingual Human Resources Generalist

  • Administers the recruiting process using an applicant tracking system; coordinates pre-employment and post-offer steps and supports recruitment for the internship program.
  • Works closely with supervisors to address staffing needs and follows through with recruiting activities in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Develops and maintains new hire, term, and change checklists to ensure completion of onboarding, offboarding, and various employment change tasks. 
  • Provides support to employees and supervisors for HR transactions such as personal information updates, new hires, and job changes, while maintaining data confidentiality.
  • Coordinates and facilitates in new hire orientation sessions and helps ensure understanding of organizational policies.
  • Contributes to improving internal HR processes to promote efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Coordinates administrative aspects of employee terminations, including documentation, communication, and offboarding steps.
  • Assists with benefits administration, including open enrollment, employee communications, and small-group presentations.
  • Leads on Equal Employment Opportunity reporting with applicable agencies
  • Communicates work rules in conjunction with HR Director on employment policies, legal requirements, and provisions of the union contract.
  • Administers leave of absence processes and ensures compliance with FMLA and other applicable leave laws.
  • Coordinates the random drug testing program for drivers and equipment operators and supports DOT compliance.
  • Provides administrative support across HR functions, including file maintenance, correspondence, and tracking of key HR activities and timelines.
  • Participates in HR projects such as internal audits, communication initiatives, and document translation.
  • Develops and maintains presentations to support training, compliance, and remedial initiatives.
  • Contributes to cross-functional team efforts that support the organization’s culture and mission, including projects outside traditional HR responsibilities.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and demonstrates a high level of integrity in all HR practices.
  •  Supports and reflects the organization’s mission and commitment to a respectful, employee-supported workplace.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s      degree in Human Resources or a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant HR      experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge      of HR-related laws, regulations and practices.
  • Proficient      in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong      organizational skills and ability to keep digital and paper records      information up-to-date.
  • Must be      detail-oriented and use precision and accuracy in dealing with data.
  • Ability      to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Must be      self-directed and reliable.
  • Interested      in working with a diverse workforce and community and promoting growth      within the organization in regards to equity and inclusion. 
  • Excellent      oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Fluent in Spanish, able to translate from English to Spanish with ease.
  • Experience using HRIS or payroll system technology
  • Commitment to community-based, non-profit, or environmental work and mission

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work, and occasional travel.
