Library Secretary (part time) Hempfield High School
Job Summary: Provide support to the HS library and district libraries by assisting students, librarians, library department supervisor and maintaining materials, resources, and records.
Position Information:
Part-time, no benefits
184 days per year
5.5 hours per day; 9:00 am-3:00 pm, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Purchase/Process Library Materials and Supplies for HS and district libraries
Enter Requisitions, maintain and reconcile financial records.
Use Library Management system to process and catalog materials at the direction of the librarians and library department supervisor.
Prepare new resources for student use.
Arrange for shipping materials purchased via district orders to various other libraries in the district through district courier.
Communicate with library vendors.
Assist students and staff with office library equipment: copier, letter cutter, book security gate and equipment, and printer housed in the library. Maintain proper working condition and notify appropriate personnel if repairs are needed.
Maintain supply inventory and assist with annual inventory of all library materials.
Perform office duties including screening telephone calls, directing callers to the appropriate personnel, sorting mail, maintaining HS Library calendar and filing subscription materials.
Prepare reports, correspondence and other documents as requested by librarians and library department supervisor.
Assist librarians and library department supervisor with collection management of district library materials and district library database.
Update material records.
Prepare and identify materials for discard/donation and remove from database.
Update, import and maintain collection records in appropriate MARC record formats.
Repair materials when necessary.
Dispose outdated material from district libraries per library procedures.
Supervise circulation desk and flex students as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the HS Principal, librarians and library department supervisor.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Previous library experience preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
