Are you an experienced veterinary technician who thrives in an independent, overnight role where your critical thinking and patient care skills truly make an impact?
Metro Paws Animal Hospital – Oak Cliff is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician to provide solo care for hospitalized patients. While there will be no doctor on site overnight, you will have detailed treatment instructions and a DVM on call in case of emergencies. This is an opportunity to be the trusted, steady presence for our patients through the quiet hours—managing treatments, monitoring progress, and ensuring a seamless handoff to the daytime team.
Here is What Your day May Consist of:
- Provide routine and emergency technical support, patient monitoring, and treatments during overnight hours
- Perform IV catheter placement, venipuncture, administer medications (IV, SQ, oral)
- Conduct radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative patient care as needed
- Monitor systems, equipment, and patient status to ensure functionality, safety, and comfort
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently, escalating to the on-call DVM when necessary
- Document all treatments, observations, incidents, and resolutions accurately in patient records
- Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and follow detailed treatment protocols
- Communicate effectively with day-shift teams for smooth continuity of care
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of treatment and ICU areas
- Adhere to all safety and compliance protocols
Here is What You Will Bring to the Position:
- Minimum 2–5 years of veterinary technician experience (overnight or independent work preferred)
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred or equivalent hands-on experience in veterinary medicine
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Comfortable working overnight hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
